| PCP = Personal Contract Purchase The affordable way to a brand new car! PCP is the increasingly popular way to afford a brand new car without having to raise a hefty deposit or have high monthly payments. It works by taking advantage of the fact that any new car will still be worth a considerable amount of money even after three years. By leaving this value outside the finance normally required it effectively means that you are just repaying the difference and consequently the monthly payments are much lower than a normal HP loan! Because the finance company providing the loan doesn't recoup its outlay until the end of the deal you will normally find that PCP interest rates can be much higher than a normal loan to compensate, but on the other hand there are very often special low rate deals available which are funded by the manufacturers themselves. The best way to explain how it works is to quote an example. Here's a current deal which is on offer today:  C1 1.0 Splash 3dr air con Discount Price: £7711 (saving £1334) £126 monthly PCP Example (includes 3 yrs AA cover): Based on 6000 miles per year - deposit £500 credit card leaving 36 low monthly payments of £ 126 with a final option to hand back part exchange or buy outright for £ 3800 The above example has an APR of 5.9% At the end of the term you can choose to either pay off the balloon figure of £3800 or you can simply hand the car back or (as most people do) you can trade the car back in and start over again. By doing this every three years you can avoid MOTs and repair bills as the car will always be under warranty! It's a very flexible deal where you can pay as little as £50 deposit and set the mileage to whatever you think you may do - there is an excess mileage charge if you go over the set mileage though so it's best to try to be accurate.
